I have the great pleasure of once again playing the beautiful music of Gao Ping, in ensemble with the brilliant Lan Weiwei and friends.
New Zealand School of Music—Te Kōkī and the Confucius Institute at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington are excited to present China Crossing IV - an afternoon of contemporary and traditional Chinese music.
This special concert features the live concert world premiere of Cloud Drama by Chinese New Zealand composer Gao Ping, bringing together leading musicians from Aotearoa New Zealand and beyond in a rich blend of Chinese and Western instruments. Performers include Lan Weiwei (pipa), Martin Riseley (violin), Natalia Mann (harp), Gabriela Glapska (piano) and Hsuan-Chen Lin (ruan).
Admission is free, but registration is essential.
China Crossing VI invites audiences on a journey across musical and cultural landscapes, where China–New Zealand sounds and traditions meet.
